Hand & Upper Extremity

We’ve got you covered through all of life’s twist and turns.

Injuries to the hand and upper extremities are very common throughout all age groups. Treating these conditions may be as simple as physical therapy or may involve intricate procedures such as reconstructive surgery.

At Ogden Clinic, our Hand and Upper Extremity specialist, Dr. Brett Richards, is board-certified and fellowship trained. In addition to his orthopedic expertise, he is qualified to diagnose and treat all problems related to the hand, wrist, forearm, and shoulder. Dr. Richards is a diplomat of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.

What are the Upper Extremities?

The upper extremities account for everything from the shoulder to the fingertips. This includes all the bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles, nerves, and blood vessels. There are a myriad of conditions that could occur, but the breadth of injuries result from:

  • Chronic conditions - such as tendonitis and carpal tunnel
  • Trauma - including sprains, fractures, and dislocations
  • Arthritis - which may be degenerative, inflamed, or even trauma-related.

Whenever possible, Dr. Richards, hand and upper extremity specialist at the Ogden Clinic, seeks to treat conditions with non-surgical approaches such as splints, injections, physical therapy and medication. However, when surgical intervention is needed, we are prepared with the latest minimally-invasive technology.

Better patient recovery and less down-time is our commitment to Ogden and the surrounding areas.
