Procedures / Treatments

  • Capsule Endoscopy Patients swallow a vitamin-sized wireless camera during capsule endoscopy. The camera passes through the digestive system taking thousands of images that can diagnose inflammatory bowel diseases, diagnose cancer, screen the small intestine, or screen the colon.
  • Colonoscopy A test to examine the colon and large intestine to diagnose, biopsy and diagnose colorectal ulcers, tumors, polyps, bleeding, inflammation, etc.
  • EGD Test An esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) test is used to examine the lining of the esophagus, stomach, and the top part of the small intestine. EGD testing involves passing an endoscope through down a patient’s throat to examine the abnormality.
  • Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) ERCP combines GI endoscopy and X-rays to treat issues of the pancreatic and bile ducts including gallstones, leaks (from surgery or trauma), and cancer.
  • Esophageal Manometry Manometry measures the coordination and strength of the esophagus when a person swallows. This test can identify esophageal problems such as heart burn and acid reflux with a thin, pressure-sensitive tube passed through the nose, down the throat, and into the stomach.
  • Hemorrhoid Treatment and Prevention If you’re experiencing a painful hemorrhoid, topical medications are available in drugstores to temporarily soothe pain. However, some hemorrhoids cannot be managed with conservative treatments alone. Ogden Clinic gastroenterologists see patients with painful hemorrhoids often and treat them with a few different methods such as rubber band ligation or hemorrhoidectomy (removal of the hemorrhoid).
  • PEG Tube Placement Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG) allows nutrition, fluids, and/or medication to be guided directly into the stomach, bypassing the mouth and esophagus. The PEG tube is guided by an endoscope into the stomach through the abdominal wall.
  • SMART Pill An ingestible capsule that measures pH, pressure, and temperature as it travels through a patient’s body. The pill evaluates motility disorders such as gastroparesis and chronic constipation. SMART Pill eliminates radiation exposure and provides a complete transit profile of the GI tract.
