  • Degenerative Disc Disease This condition weakens of one or more vertebral discs which normally act as a cushion between the vertebrae.
  • Facet Joint Injection Inflamed facet joints can often be the cause of neck pain, back pain, and sometimes headaches.
  • Herniated Discs When discs between vertebrae, it can put pressure on the spinal cord or spinal nerves, calling numbness and weakness along the nerve.
  • Neck Pain and Pinching Cervical fractures, herniated discs, pinched nerves, and arthritis could all be causes of neck pain.
  • Pain Management (Interventional) Interventional pain management involves administering a series of therapeutic injections to specific areas of the spine to alleviate pain.

Interests

Dr. Shepherd is a graduate of Weber State University and graduated medical school from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He chose this specialty because of the focus on nonsurgical musculoskeletal care. He enjoys empowering his patients by educating them regarding their conditions and available treatment options. He also performs electro-diagnostic studies, impairment ratings, and independent medical evaluations as well as joint and lumbar spinal injections.
